Reports

Once assessments have been completed, options/outcomes are discussed with the client. A detailed reports is written and forwarded to the client/referrer. We recommend a copy is always sent to the GP in the case of a standard report with an additional letter if required.

The summary will identify the following as necessary:

• Opinion of the assessment team as to fitness to drive

• Type of vehicle recommended

• Adaptations required

• Whether driving tuition is required and if it is essential or would be beneficial

• Whether further assessment is required - visual / cognitive / driving. A further specialist organisations opinion may be required

• If notification to the DVLA is required by the client

• If notification to an insurance company is required by the client

• If their driving license should be returned to the DVLA

Often it is not possible on the day of the assessment to give a firm indication as to the suitability to commence/return to driving as we may be required to await the results of further assessments. Once reports from additional assessments have been received, then an additional report with regard to driving will be formulated and a final recommendation given.
